Remembrance of our Grandma Mary

Saturday the 25th we lost our sweet grandma Mary to cancer, she was 84. She lived a long and happy life. She will be missed. It makes me so glad I threw caution to the wind and went with mom and my sisters to see her at the first of April.

From here we headed home. Through a tunnel that had a RAINBOW painted on the arch as you went in . We spent the night in Reno and then got up and drove to Salt Lake to drop Diantha & Nora, Mari and Tacey off then headed home. We got to Emikos about 8:00 and I got home around 9:00.

THANKS to all my sisters and my mom for taking me on this trip, it will be something I will treasure for always.

The food wasn't to bad, but do not & I mean do not try the spagetti, it was not very good. Every thing else that we ordered was pretty good.

This is Christy our cousin . Also we have Nora and her bandage. Tacey has a friend from her volleyball team that moved to Cali that we met Saturday night at a Icecream shop called Fentons. It had the and I mean the best carmel topping. It makes me wish that we had a Fentons around here.

Twilight, Track meets & Derbys

Last night I made my husband take me out on a date at 11:00 to Walmart for the Twilight dvd thing. He hated it, I was bored, all I wanted was the movie and to go home. Well I eventually got the movie after I managed to find a line that had maybe 10 to 15 people in it, mainly consisting of moms with their tweens and teenage girls with drool dripping off their lips. Well I managed to get home and to bed. Jayden had her 1st away track meet today in Price. She ran the 100meter hurdles and that was it today cause of her shin splints. She said she made it over her hurdles just to trip herself just before the finish line. She came home very sunburned and bruised. I am very proud of her. I'll post pics of her sunburn later. Sean had his scout pinewood derby this morning. His car was the richest car there. Therefore the car decided it didn't need to as fast as the rest, but it tried. Sean was upset but got over it. But hey there is always next year. You learn by trial and error. We have 12 months to perfect it and do one for Dakota. I'll post pics later of the derby.

As you know the kids and I went to mom and dads to build Seans derby car for scouts. But this is what two of the girls did that day, and they worked pretty hard and their efforts paid off. Jay was paid for the the work she did and mom got the satisfaction of having some yard work finished up and the old play house cleaned out. Here are some of the picture I took of them working. I didn't get to many because I was in the house cooking lunch and rocking out to the Eagles.Yep! She got to clean the chicken coop.

Polar Express

Seans 2nd grade class put on the Polar Express for their Christmas program. They all did a great job. Here are some pictures and videos of Sean.

Sean did a really great job. The picture with the sticks they were singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. They learned sign language and did Silent Night in sign language. Here is the video of Sean doing sign language. ( Its very short.)

This is what happens when mom decides to shake the beer! So please don't shake the beer. This is actually her Beer Bread mix. You take one of these and a bottle of beer and mix it and bake it. I didn't get a chance to taste it for I had to head for home. Thanks mom the good laugh and a great time Yesterday.

Tree Hunting

Yesterday we went to mom and dads to find a tree. They wouldn't let us have one out their many trees in the yard, so dad told us to follow him, that he would show us where we could find us a tree. He took us out on Boulder, we went about 100 yrds from the truck when Jayden found a good looking tree, but no we didn't take it yet, we hiked and looked around a little more but didn't find anything better. The only thing we found was an ice covered creek which Sadie had to step on and fall through. We circled back around and took the tree Jayden found. She did the cutting of the tree.

We couldn't find a good one for mom and dad, so we loaded up and drove up the mountain looking. We stopped several times and looked. Dad got out and walked up the little hill to look. This is him walking back to us.

Still didn't find one. So off we go again. We looked and looked, we found a big group of trees up a hill. We walked around and looked. After awhile we separated and looked around.

I found a tree for them and this is how mom makes her decisions on if the tree will work for her. She had Sean and Jayden hold down a few branches while she backed up and looked it 0ver.
She decided against it. She decided on one that her and Jay found. They cut it down together, even though mom tried to cut off Jays finger accidently. ( only a flesh wound) Here are some other pic from tree hunting.

Construction

Saturday night, we made a gingerbread house, I did the construction of the house, and the kid did the siding , shingles and the landscaping. They had fun doing it. The hardest part for them was not eating the candy. Sadie did manage to sneak a little candy in, Jayden ate a gumball, she denies it though.
Rod helped out even, by puttin on the glue for the shingles.

We have to do this again next year, but have more icing and candies.

This year we went to Emiko and Marks for Thanksgiving. We all enjoyed ourselves I think. Well I did anyway. Em & Mark cooked a great dinner, Tacey brought the most yummy yams ever, Mari brought a great green salad, along with the Wii fit board. Mari & Tacey kept the kids entertained, while Em & I did up the dishes. Thank goodness for cowboy dishes. Then we motated into the living room for a try at the Wii. Rod even played with us, after finished drawing a picture. I thoroughly enjoy the Wii, & R0d says we can actually get one now once its taxes time. Wednesday was Dakotas 1st grade program, it was quite cute. He dressed up as a ghost for the program and the Halloween parade.It's kind of funny, Dakota is surrounded by girls. Lucky him!!!

Tonight was Jays last vb game of the season. We played S. Sevier our school rivals. We lost the first match but came back in the 2nd match with a 11-0 lead before they made their first point. We ended up beating them in all three games (fman, JV, & V) in which Varsity kept their no loss record for the season. Well here are some videos I took of Jayden playing.

I am going to miss Volleyball season, So until next year in August. GREAT JOB JAYDEN!!!!

Freshman Tournament

As you all know from Taceys blog, Jayden had her tournament Saturday in Delta. Here are the two pictures that I took at her games. There were six teams at the tournament, Jaydens team played 5 of the teams. She played 2 games in a row in which she won the first game and lost the 2nd. Her 3rd game was a loss and her 4th was a win. The tournament part was a single elimination bracket game. She wone her first game. Her 2nd game like Tacey said was nerve racking as close as it was, they played 3 matches that time and won the 2nd match, they came away with third place in the tournament. Jayden also became a pro volleyball play that day. Definition of Pro: one who is paid for what they do. Thank you my Sister that turned my Jayden into a Pro Volleyball player. As mom says Jayden can no longer play amateur volleyball anymore. She has a love for volleyball Jayden does.

Locked out!

While I was at work on Sat. the 4th, & Rod was napping, Jayden did something that I guess made Sadie upset with her, I don't know what it was, but Sadie took it out on Jay and boys by going out and letting Fender loose (our dog) and when the three were out trying to catch him, she went in the house and locked the front & back door on the house, locking Jayden, Sean, & Dakota out and wouldn't let them in the house. Jayden had to knock on the bedroom to wake up Rod so he could let them back in the house. When I got home from work and found out what happen I laughed so hard. It was the funniest thing I had heard all day. So a 3 year old can out smart a 14 year old occasionally.

Jaydens team play N. Sevier again and of course Jays freshies won all three matches. JV won, & the Varsity lost the first two matches then we turned around and beat them in the 3rd match by 13 or 14 points. I think they decided they weren't going to stand letting them win another match. N. Sevier managed to come back and almost win the 4th match, but we beat them in that match and the 5th match.

As for Saturday the 11th, the Freshman tournament starts at 9am in Delta. All I know is that Jaydens first game is at 9 am. She will be bringing a schedule of the games home, and I will keep you updated.

New Niece

Jay vs. N sevier

Jay played a damn good game against N Sevier last night. Of course we won again, literally we stomped N Seviers Arses big time. Sorry Em and April. Jay finally got to serve the ball, she had way too much power in the serve that the ball went out of bounds behind the court. I even asked her where all that power came from and she had no clue. Emiko and April came and watched Jay play last night. Thanks Em and April for supporting Jay. Tomorrow she play against S. Sevier, RHS's rivals, so wish her well in her games.

Red Devils

Jays team won their game on friday against Grand County Red Devils. She got to play quite a bit in the game. She did play on front row some more, but mostly the back row. WildCats VS Broncos

The WildCats started out playing very well last night against Blandings Broncos. But the Broncos turned around and whomped our hineys pretty darn good. Needless to say the Broncos won all three matches. Jay played an awesome game mostly the backrow postition and she even played some on the front row position. I don't know what position it was but she played it well. Now on to tonights game at @ 3:30 against Grand. Good luck Jay!

DS/S position

Thank you Tori and mom for letting me know what the DS/S positions are. So for those of you that don't know. The DS is for defensive specialist which in the terms of college volleyball is the second most defensive position in volleyball, behind the Libero. This position requires a lot of the same skills, but usually the Libero is the better of these two positions. A team does not always have a Defensive Specialist.Volleyball Positions - Libero The libero is the most defensive position on the volleyball court, and this player is a virtual master at the fundamentals of the game of volleyball. The Libero wears a contrasting colored jersey and always stands on the back row, where they specialize in receiving a serve or an attack. This player can substitute for any other player on the court, so they must be highly skilled and have great reflexes. Sorry Tori I cheated and copied and pasted. Tori and mom both think the S is for Setter. Boy I have a whole lot of learning ahead of me on this sport. Again Thankyou for the help.

Jayden had her second volley ball game yesterday @ N. Sanpete. From what she came home and told me is that her freshman team won three out of five matches, and that she played one full match without being substituted. Yay Jayden! Gotta love that girl. But anyway JV lost and Varsity won. So we are now 2-0. GO WILDCATS. She has games on Thurs. and Fri. this week against San Juan and Grand @ home.

Today Jayden plays her first volleyball game, and its against Cedar High a 3A team. So wish her luck. I will post more after her game.

Okay I'm back with info on the game. Jay's team is now 1-0. She played very well even if she didn"t play very long during the times she was in. Well they played 3 sets, with us winning all three, 25-11, 25-9, and 15-8. I guessed on Cedars scores because I couldn't remember them. I should have wrote them down. Sorry No pictures I forgot the camera.

High School

On monday the 11th & 12th Jayden had tryouts for the high school volley ball team. They started out each day by proving they could run 1 1/2 miles and from there fundamentals on volleyball. Well Jaydens perseverence paid off. She found out at about 1:45 pm on the 12th that she made the team. Whoooo hooooo! She is now officially on the high school volley ball team. Yay!! Now she is being conditioned in the mornings and practices in the afternoon, until school starts Tues. the 19th, then its everyday after school. We are sooo pround of her and excited for her. Congratulations Jayden. She is following in her Aunts footsteps, which is better for her to follow than mine.

My roof!

Yay! My roof is finally fixed. Nothing serious mind you, just a few missing shingles is all. I bought the shingles a week ago, borrowed the ladder on Sunday, and started this morning with setting up the ladder with Jaydens help. It took us probably 10 - 15 min. to figure it out, by the time we figured it out and got it set up against the house, Rod had come home. I got about 3 shingles and started up the ladder slowly when Rod came out and told me to get my butt down that he would do it. So I let him. I climbed up after him, but once I got to the top of the ladder I should have climbed back down but nooo I climbed right on up there and almost got sick to my stomach, I am a chicken that is afraid of heights. The boys decided to climb the ladder and Rod helped them up on the roof, scared the $#!+ out me even more. Next thing I knew there was Sadie at the top of the ladder which of course almost gave me a heart attack from fear. Rod brought her up for a moment, got the boys down then helped Sadie back down. Me of course was left on my own to get down. So I need to say THANK YOU Rod for doing the shingles, that I found out that I would have never made it up the ladder with the shingles in hand or been able to actually put them on. Thankyou.

I have been struggling for 4 years to get my yard to start looking half way decent, it's getting there slowly. I usually start some project in my yard and only get half way finished because I can't afford the flowers or I can't figure out what to plant. In this picture I bought a few calla lilies because they were on sale. I didn't get them planted till the next day. I thought they turned out well, now it just needs a few more colorful flowers.

I went to mom and dads about 2 weeks ago borrowed moms mini tiller and brought it home to till up my dirt on the side of my drive way and my old garden area so I could get rid of the weeds for a day or two . Well so far I have tilled up, leveled to the best of my abilities, and planted grass in the area by the driveway. It was almost a week after I planted the grass, it was starting to come up. I was so excited. I have several pictures of my yard and plants.

Here is the one and only squash, zuccini, or cucumber plant that survived. A lilac that I got from grandma when we moved into our house the following summer, off of her lilac in her yard. I think it should be bigger than it is after 4 years. But oh well.

A night out!

Last night Rod deciced it was time for to go out on a date. He originally planned on a movie and dinner after. It was a nice thought. In actuality we made to the movie, (The Dark Night), it was very on the edge of your chair type of movie. By the time it was over it was 10:00 and too late to go out for dinner, so we hit up the local Taco Bell and got the $9.00 meal and took it home and shared with the kids. Other than that it was a great night out. No kids and we actually saw the whole movie. (Thanks Mari for the cute date clothes. I finally got to put them to use.)

Walking is good for the soul!

This morning I got up at 7:00 to go walking. I tried to get Jay to go with, she wouldn't budge. Guess who I got to go walking with me? Rod went, yes Rod. Needless to say I was surprised that he wanted to go with me, considering I never can get him to go. It was a perfect temperature outside for walking. It was very invigorating until half way through when my legs started the whole your muscles are now getting warmed up itching thing. We ended up taking the shortcut through the dirt field by our neighborhood to get home because my body decided to be lame and have to use the bathroom. All in all it was nice to get out and do some walking.

4th of July

For the 4th of July we got up, ate breakfast, got dressed and went to the parade. It wasn't near as hot as it usually was on the 4th, it was overcast and a little cooler than normal, which made it very nice. The 3 little kids got way way too much candy which has ended up in the carpet much to my dismay. After the parade we home for bathroom breaks and drop of candy so it wouldn't melt together, you know how salt water taffy gets in the heat. Then it was off to the park, where Rod bought the boys and Sadie bows and arrows made out of pvc pipe and dowls with foam arrows and gave Jayden money for whatever she wanted to spend it on. I think he spent way to much on the 4th. As you all know or if you didn't know last year on the 4th of July, Rod lost Sadie at the Richfield City park during the celebrations. I not scared to admit, he did it again. That is lost Sadie at the 4th of July celebrations again. And yes I was involved in this one. She was found safe and sound with a group of older ladies.
That evening we went to Dan and Jamie Demilles for the fireworks. They were great. The kids all had a great time.
